Problem Statement
To make everyday tools into different art styles and create them into a vectorized graphic in Adobe illustrator.

Audience
My target audience is my professor and classmates.

Research
For research we explored, researched, and created a google doc filled with different forms of graphic styles that were able to be used for our project. After that we would look at different examples of previous work in order to get an understanding of where we should end up with for ourselves. Lastly, we got to choose which items we were going to draw and studied their angles, shapes, colors, and sizes, to get a better idea on how to move forward with our items.
For the first step into this project, we were told to pick three everyday tools to start with. Once we picked out our chosen tools, we were to draw four different angles of each of our three tools. That gives us a total of twelve sketches. After completing the twelve sketches we were to come to class and have a couple small group critiques over our sketches. From these critiques we were to discuss what worked and what did not. After my group critiques over my sketches were over, I dotted the sketches that worked the best and chose to move forward with them.
In our second phase we were to pick our top sketches form the twelve and make 2 sketches of each tool. This gave us a total of 6 sketches, each of them had to be in a different graphic/art style as well. In this phase we were also able to change our items if we felt it would be appropriate. I ended up changing out the tape dispenser for an iPhone charger in the bottom row. From here we had another small group critique in class. From the feedback I received my group encouraged me to move forward with the tweezers for the next phase.
In this phase we were to take the feedback form our small group critiques and create six sketches of our final tool. From selecting out final tool, we were to sketch it in the same angle but in different graphic/art styles. From there we went into small groups again and discussed which are the three strongest sketches to move forward with. After discussing with my small group we decided which three to move forward with and dotted them.
In this phase I threw my top three sketches into illustrator and created outlines using the pen tool. I made my drawing picture into a template to better understand what I am making in illustrator. I would change the angle of my sketch template to fit the angle I wanted. After creating the outlines, I would use the pen tool to color in the spots with the correct colors for the graphic/art style of my choice.
From there I moved my final graphics into the template provided by our professor for the final product of our Image Marks Project. I found the this sideways toppish angle of the tweezers was the best angle to portray. The reason I say this is because it shows the full shape of the tool and all aspects of it as well. You can see each of the two parts of the tool and you can see the outside of the front piece and the inside of the second piece. This shows all both angles of the tweezers, and it helps the viewer get a better understanding of the tools physical make up.

Style 1- Geometric
I chose this style because it shows all the detail and angles of the tweezers. This style allows me to break up each component of my tool and really annunciate how the structure is put together. This style also shows how geometric this tool really is and can help the viewer understand angles and shape of my tool.

Style 2- Futuristic/modern/monochromatic
I chose this style because it is my favorite style to use/ look at. I find this style to be very aesthetically pleasing as well and can use very little to explain a lot. This style can really annunciate the simplistic shapes my tool is made from. The ability of this style is how little detail can go such a long way.

Style 3- Abstract
I chose this style because I thought it would be fun to make a colorful abstract tweezer. I tried to make this style very smooth and make a little bit of sense with how the colors are arranged. I got inspiration from a certain logo I have always envied and wanted to try out the stylistic attributes that the logo contained. The overlapping curves and colors are very pleasing and work well with the angle of the tool. I chose to add light and dark spots, so it is easier to understand the tool and the angle it is at.
